About Us

Welcome to WalkingCalorieCalc.com — a free online tool that answers one simple question: how many calories did that walk burn?

Our Mission

Walking is the world's most popular exercise — free, gentle on the joints, and something almost everyone can do. But when it comes to tracking calories, most fitness apps are overloaded with features, accounts, subscriptions, and ads. We wanted the opposite: a calculator that opens instantly, works on any device, and gives you a trustworthy number in seconds.

The Science Behind Our Calculator

We use the standard MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) formula — the same method used in exercise science and public health research:

Calories = MET × weight (kg) × time (hours)

MET values for walking come from the Compendium of Physical Activities, the most widely cited reference for energy expenditure, ranging from about 2.8 METs for a slow stroll to 7.0 METs for race walking. For most people, the estimate is accurate within roughly 10–15%.

What Makes Us Different

Everything runs in your browser — your numbers never leave your device. No sign-up, no paywall, no data harvesting. Whether you want to know the burn for 10,000 steps, a 5 km walk, or a 30-minute lunchtime stroll, we've got a mode for it.
